The community hosts a variety of celebrations year round. During the month of May, there is Friday Night Live! where free concerts are held every Friday from May through August. The Farmer’s Market is active from May through October. Other May celebrations include Towne Square Singers, Big Truck Days, Public Works Forest and Meadow Wildflower Walk. The Herndon festival occurs in June and is held for four days. For the fourth of July, there is a large celebration with fireworks display. In September, there is the Labor Day Jazz Festival, Annual Motorcycle Poker Run, Annual Naturefest Celebration, and the HerndonHalf Marathon.

The town had its beginnings in 1688 when King Charles II of England granted 5 million acres to Thomas Culpeper and part of the land became Herndon. In the 19th century, a mill was built along a stream near the intersection of what is now Elden and Locust Streets. The railroad depot was built in 1857 and it launched Herndon into further development. Today, Herndon is a vibrant community that has a variety of commercial and residential areas.

Chantilly is located in the western part of Fairfax County in Virginia. There was a lot of development after 1980, where many residential subdivisions and commercial areas were built, filling in the previous farmland. Neighborhoods in Purcellville, VA

While Lord Fairfax of Cameron issued the first land grant in the area in 1740, Purcellville was first settled by James Dillon in 1764. After further development with the addition of an ordinary (a combined store and inn), postal office, and blacksmith, the town’s name was established in 1853. These are the places in Purcellville listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Purcellville Train Station, Locust Grove, the Purcellville Historic District, Rich Bottom Farm, and The Tabernacle-Fireman’s Field.

The county seat of Loudoun County in Virginia and located 33 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., Leesburg is a picturesque town at the base of the Catoctin Mountain and next to the Potomac River. The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s annex located in Chantilly. It has thousands of aviation and space artifacts in its exhibits. The Space Shuttle Discovery and a Concorde can also be found in the museum, in two large hangars.
